Over the past few months, we’ve been working fervently on new features, components and templates for AdvancedMinistry. Recently, we launched a new photo-uploading tool (developed by the same company that worked on Facebook’s uploading tool), and today we’re happy to announce a long-awaited feature – an interactive Flash calendar.
For years, AdvancedMinistry users have used a “list view” to display their ministry events, but as of today, you now have the option to display an interactive Flash-based calendar instead. This new component will assist ministries in presenting their events in a more user-friendly format.
Enjoy!
To change your event view, login to your AdvancedMinistry account and click on “Edit My Events”. From there, you will see the option to change your view format.

Way to go guys. This is a great new feature.
Funny thing...today I was looking at our website with our Pastor, and I happened to mention that I love the look of our website EXCEPT the Events calendar! I went in to change a few items, and I noticed the new feature - I immediately chose the calendar format option, and I have to say...I love it!!! It looks so much nicer than what we had before for listing our events. Thank you!!
I applaud the efforts, but had to go back to 'list view'. Mac users who use Firefox claimed some display issues, mainly the display box was too small with the calendar text getting chopped.
Why don't you offer a demo so we can see what this actually looks like without first committing a lot of time to it? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks everyone for the great feedback!
Larry - can you please speak with the users that were having issues and find out exactly what version of Firefox and Flash that they use? Then submit a ticket through the Support Desk so that I can follow up. I personally use Firefox on a Mac and don't have a problem. I imagine it's more a problem with the version of Flash that they are running -- not the browser or the OS... so I'd like to get to the bottom of it.
Don -- great point... we are working on creating video demos for all of our features. Just so you know, all you need to do is sign up for a Free site (no obligation) and you can use the calendar... no strings attached.
Keep the feedback coming. Thanks everyone!
I love the concept but also have gone back to list view.
I use the latest Firefox & only if I maximize the window am I able to change the month at the top of the calendar, otherwise the option to view or scroll the month is hidden.
I would also like to be able to disable the "visit the website" link as we don't always have an outside website to direct people to (for in-house events, etc). Help on this is appreciated if anyone has figured it out!
Also, when having an image / picture uploaded into the event description, it causes the text to be whited-out and the image disappears.
You guys are very much appreciated for all you do to make our sites the best they can be! Thanks so much!
Personally, I think its an improvement aesthetically but not functionally. The user has already clicked on the calendar page to see what goes on at our church, now instead of seeing that, they have to click through each date to see what is happening. I am sticking with the list view for now, even though the calendar looks slick.
AWESOME Guys, you're getting better and better. To be honest I've been shopping around at using a "blog" site like wordpress or blogspot b/c those sites are so interactive! You're taking steps in the right direction for users who want to go deeper than simple texts and pics, thanks! God bless!
Thanks everyone. Keep the feedback coming! We have had a few users make a note that the calendar is not working for them in some browsers. It's actually an issue with some templates (in combination with the Flash calendar). We are working on a resolution and should have something within the next 48 hours!
It's a nice idea. However, I want to do events on specific dates. This calender will not allow it, It has the event on every single day of the month when it is only on specific days! It's a little premature, I'll have to go back to the list. It's too confusing for website viewers. Much Love! God Bless You all!
For those of you that were experiencing problems with the calendar getting cut off in certain templates, the problem is now resolved. If you have any further issues, please feel free to submit a support ticket!
Christy, regarding your issue... that sounds kind of weird. If you have an event on a certain day, it should only show for that day. For example, if you say that you have an event on "May 30", it will only show the event on the May 30 date. Please feel free to submit a support ticket if you're still having problems and we would be more than happy to help.
